What extra promotional material should you hand out at the end of a sale?
Promotional material is one of your strongest tools and what better time to use it than when your customers just bought artwork from you?
There’s a variety of promotional material you may want to provide your new art collectors immediately after you close your sale and we’ll discuss what they include.
Depending on what artist’s work your new collectors bought, you’ll want to change up the extra promotional material you provide. And don’t overwhelm them with too much extra stuff.
If your new collectors purchased a piece of artwork from your top selling artist, maybe you could provide them with a complimentary book full of their best pieces and biography. And it’s okay to let them know the value of the gift you’re providing.
Always give them a business card before they head out for the day. So that this doesn’t get lost or end up in the trash, try stapling it to their receipt.
At this point in time you have two choices about providing a thank you card. You could include one with the receipt and business card, or wait till later that night and send an emailed thank you letter. Either way, a follow up thank you email is recommended.
If you’d like to provide your collector with a one page biography of the artist they purchased, you could give them a bag and put this inside along with their receipt. This could be helpful if it showcases the piece of artwork they bought on it, or if there was another piece of artwork that they liked on there. Maybe it will remind them of it and they’ll come back later to buy that piece too. The artist biographies you have should be 2/3 images of current art work for sale and 1/3 artist biography text.
If you have a gallery wide catalog or magazine, this a good time to include that in their take a way bag.
Also, a schedule of their artist’s show events (if not on their artist biography).
Don’t overwhelm your new art collectors. Even if it’s 5-6 different types of promotion, arrange them together in a way so that it only feels like 2 extra pieces of information. Be crafty.
